Here is some truth.

I have worked in retail and customer service for over 20 years, and in that time I have learned a thing or two about both. The main thing I have learned is that customer service, as a field, has a horrible reputation. That has to change. The fields of retail, customer service, hospitality, etc., deserve the same respect and high regard from the general public as other professions, such as the medical and legal fields.

However, if you tell someone that you are a retail manager or a customer service rep., you will be looked at with pity or dismissed, as if somehow you have failed in life. People who work in the service and hospitality fields deserve respect and admiration because they help make life slightly easier. As an introduction to this side of the blog, which focuses on improving customer experience, one point is clear: the goal of this area is to change how the general public perceives the service industry. The two topics of customer experience and leadership will sometimes intersect, because the latter facilitates excellent customer experiences. Scenarios, stories, and experiences will be used as learning lessons to illustrate what to do and what not to do.

The beauty of this blog is that it will continually evolve, and hopefully we can encourage diverse approaches to delivering the best possible customer experience. It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, how you tell your story online can make all the difference.
